REDCap Weekly Maintenance Schedule

REDCap undergoes routine regular weekly maintanance Fridays from 7pm to 10pm. REDCap is offline during those hours until the maintenance is complete. This time is used to keep UH REDCap up-to-date with the very latest REDCap releases!

What is REDCap?

REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture) is a secure web application for building and managing online surveys and databases. Using REDCap's stream-lined process for rapidly developing projects, you may create and design projects using 1) the online method from your web browser using the Online Designer; and/or 2) the offline method by constructing a 'data dictionary' template file in Microsoft Excel, which can be later uploaded into REDCap. Both surveys and databases (or a mixture of the two) can be built using these methods.

REDCap provides audit trails for tracking data manipulation and user activity, as well as automated export procedures for seamless data downloads to Excel, PDF, and common statistical packages (SPSS, SAS, Stata, R). Also included are a built-in project calendar, a scheduling module, ad hoc reporting tools, and advanced features, such as branching logic, file uploading, and calculated fields.

Important Note for researchers with UH IRB Protocols:
UH REDCap will allow the safe, secure storage of all your research data, including the storage of PHI (Protected Health Information) HIPAA identifier fields for your UH IRB protocols!

Visit the public REDCap website hosted by Vanderbilt University for all you ever wanted to know about REDCap at: http://project-redcap.org

How much does UH REDCap Cost to use?

It's free! Yes, you read that right - there is no cost for you to use UH REDCap.

REDCap is provided free of charge courtesy of the Biomedical Informatics Core of the Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative (CTSC) and University Hospitals

All that is asked in return, is that if you publish from the research you've done using UH REDCap, is that you cite the support of both the CTSC grant (UL1TR002548 from NCATS) and REDCap (citation information) in your publication.

If I am not a UH employee, am I eligible to use UH REDCap?

If you are working on a UH IRB approved protocol, then yes you are eligible to use UH REDCap! All non-UH employees are required to complete the UH Research Credentialing process setup by the UH Center for Clinical Research and Technology before they can be approved for accessing UH REDCap. The steps needed to become credentialed can be found here:
